5 Hotel Room Food Ideas: Meals to Prep in your Hotel Room

Ready for some hotel room food ideas? There are many easy and healthy meals to make in a hotel room. You’re probably wondering… why would I? You might be working away from home for a few days or a week or you might be on a vacation and want to save some money. I have 5 hotel room food ideas for you!  Most of the time there is no kitchen or kitchenette to prepare meals in a hotel. So we might feel more inclined to buy food that is fast and convenient and may not be the healthiest option. But don’t be tempted! There might not be many food options near the hotel you are staying. For these reasons, I encourage you to try prepping food in your hotel room and save money!

Here are some ideas on how to prepare meals in your hotel room, while saving money! Most hotels don’t have microwaves so I’ve included meal ideas they don’t require a microwave. Things to consider when prepping food in a hotel room is to bring supplies including disposable utensils, a paper plate, a tupperware container, a lunch bag, napkins, zip loc bags, and ice packs.

Let’s get to these food ideas!

5 Easy Hotel Room Food Ideas:

Hotel Food Idea 1: Grilled Chicken Wrap

I prefer using wheat tortilla or the Wheat Flatout Flatbread. Instead of using frozen chicken, I was able to find refrigerated chicken strips, Applegate Grilled Chicken Breast Strips. You can purchase this brand from Target. Surprisingly, the grilled chicken tasted very fresh and contained very little preservatives. Add spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, carrots or whatever veggies you like. Finish it off with your favorite sandwich dressing. I like using French’s spicy brown mustard.

Hotel Food Idea 2: Salad

One brand that I purchase is the Fresh Express Salad Kits. Costco also sells packaged salad kits. The one I bought was a Kale Chopped Salad for around $5.00, and it lasted me a whole week! There is also Asian Chopped Salad at Costco. When you are on the go, these salad kits provide the convenience you need without having to purchase the dressing separately. Add in protein and tomatoes. Next, mix all the ingredients into a Tupperware and shake it up. Your meal is ready to go! It’s fast and easy!

Hotel Food Idea 3: Yogurt and Fruit

There are so many fruits that go well with yogurt— strawberries, bananas, kiwi, raspberries or blueberries. If fruits aren’t enough, add in some nuts too! Greek yogurt is an excellent source of calcium and protein. Don’t forget that you will be getting your daily serving of fruit with your yogurt meal.

Hotel Food Idea 4: Tuna on the GO

There are different brands of On The Go tuna from which you can choose. Selections include Starkist Lunch To Go or Bumble Bee Snack on the Run. These packs come with tuna, 5 or 6 crackers depending on the brand, and mayonnaise. A small spoon is included for your convenience. Tuna is a good source of fiber, protein and Omega 3’s, which is good for the heart. Grab two packs because one might not be enough.

Hotel Food Idea 5: Hummus, Crackers, Veggies or Fruits

Hummus comes in all sorts of flavors! There is Red Pepper, Lemon, Roasted Garlic, and Spinach. I really like the Sabra’s lemon hummus. It’s very tangy! Don’t forget some crackers, carrots or fruits to go with your hummus. Hummus, crackers, veggies or fruits make a light and delicious meal.

Hope these ideas were helpful! If you have any more quick, easy and healthy food ideas on how to prepare a meal in a hotel room, please feel free to share.

Until next time…
